Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals are essential for our lives, for the metabolic reactions in our bodies. We get vitamins and minerals from the food we eat every day. But, some foods contain more vitamins and minerals than others. It is important to eat food rich in vitamin and minerals to stay healthy.

Vitamins fall in two categories: fat soluble - A, D, E and K; and water soluble: C and B complex. The last ones must be dissolved in water before our bodies can absorb them.

If you have a rich diet (fresh fruits and vegetables, seeds, eggs, meats) then it's not necessary to take vitamin or mineral supplements. If you have a poor diet, if you skip meals, then you must talk with your doctor. The doctor will help you create an eating plan that will include all vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

Choose healthy foods and skip the vitamin pills.
